The Fox

The characteristic barking calls of the arctic fox can be important for discovering the species in vast mountain and tundra areas. In this video you can hear the barking call:

In july 2011 my friend and I found three litters of arctic fox in the southern Norwegian montain Dovrefjell, and become familiar with the sounds. In one occation I heard the call of the fox in the middle of the night, and it turned out to be another litter.

This july I visited Dovrefjell  and found arctic fox cubs again. The scream of the cubs inside a scree revealed very young foxes. Then it was time to step back to avoid disturbing the arctic fox, which is an rare and endangered mammal in Norway mainland.

In september my friend an I visited the area again and had magical experiences with the curious and graceful young foxes.

    1. Hyggelig at du likte dem.
Jeg ser at du også har fått fine bilder av fjellrevene.
Hvitrevene hadde tydeligvis nydelig vinterdrakt allerede for noen uker siden.
